Great BBQ starts with a well-built pit

1836 Smokers started the same way a lot of good Texas ideas do—with a problem that needed solving. We love real wood-fired barbecue, but anyone who has spent time behind a pit knows the weather doesn’t always cooperate. Wind shifts, temperatures drop, and suddenly you’re chasing your fire instead of enjoying the cook. We knew there had to be a better way.

So we got to work building smokers that help pitmasters stay in control no matter the conditions. What began as a mission to create steadier temperatures turned into a family-owned company proudly based in Waxahachie, Texas, building smokers for backyard cooks, caterers, restaurants, and competition teams.

One of the things that sets our pits apart is our custom airflow system with baffles on three sides of the firebox. This design gives you more control over how your fire breathes, helping you manage heat and airflow whether the wind is coming from the north, south, east, or west. Instead of fighting the elements, you can learn your smoker, dial in your temperatures, and keep them consistent through the cook.

Every smoker we build is made from American steel by skilled welders and fabricators who take pride in doing things the right way. We believe a smoker should be tough, dependable, and built to last for years of good meals and great memories.

At the end of the day, 1836 Smokers is about more than steel and fire. It’s about family, tradition, and helping people cook food that brings everyone to the table.
